• The
Tour
The tour starts in Edinburgh,
seat of royal authority in Scotland, and we begin with a one
hour walking tour along the famous Royal Mile, linking the
Queen’s
Palace of Holyroodhouse with Edinburgh Castle. After the walk,
you will get the chance to have a look around the castle, and
see for yourselves the oldest crown jewels in Europe, the Honours
of
Scotland. From the castle we will head out of Edinburgh and make
our way to South Queensferry, before crossing the famous Forth
Bridge to the ancient Kingdom of Fife and Dunfermline abbey.
Dunfermline was a medieval capital of Scotland, and both King
Malcolm and King
Robert the Bruce are buried in the Abbey.
From Dunfermline we will take you to see the Wallace monument
and the Battlefield of Bannockburn, where Robert the Bruce defeated
the English King Edward II in 1314. From Stirling we will head
back to Edinburgh along the south coast of the Forth, with a
stop at Linlithgow Palace; built by the Stewart kings, and birthplace
of Mary Queen of Scots.
The tour is very flexible, and if you wanted to change any element
that would be no problem. Lunch will also be when you are hungry,
rather than in a set place.
Any size of group can take the tour, but based on a party of
10 the price would be £550.00 including entrance to Edinburgh
castle, Dunfermline Abbey, The Wallace Monument, Linlithgow Palace
and the Bannockburn visitor centre. It also includes minicoach
hire and a professional and enthusiastic guide. |
