Genealogy tours

Because we recognise that tracing your roots is a very personal thing, we would like you to tell us what you would like from your trip in order that we get it right. The tour can be done in a private car with a personal driver/guide, or as a self-drive package, both tailored to your specific requirements. The accommodation is yours to choose from, we cater from Self-catering to Castles, and it can be for as many nights as you please. The whole trip can be as intense or relaxed as you want it to be.

We will put together a programme that will allow you to see the places that your ancestors came from, and will give you the time to explore at your leisure. With enough warning we can probably arrange you to visit places like schools and churches, and be able to dig up a few of the old records for you to see.

One of the key parts of the tour will be your chance to see how your ancestors lived and worked, either by visiting working museums, or by giving you the chance to spend a day in your forefather’s shoes. This will then be tied into a day in the local community, with a wee dram in the pub!

"Lonely the exile, o'er distant seas,
The home of their birth, gone from their eyes.
Bring back their souls o'er the ocean breeze
To the land where their fathers lie"

A typical genealogy tour would consist of the following:

•Transport (with an option of a personal guide)
•Accommodation (Self-catering, B&B, Hotel)
•Full itinerary with visits and activities
•Information pack on the way your ancestors lived, and how it fits into the history of Scotland
•A night out (e.g., at a ceilidh), if available.

So, what are you waiting for? Tell us a bit about you and your ancestors, and what kind of trip you would like, and we’ll do the rest.

It's time you came home

We are also keen for you to experience the best that Scotland has to offer while you are here, so as part of the tour we will also arrange for a number of attractions like castles and distilleries, and some activities, ranging from forest walks to bungee jumping. Anything goes.
